How to cancel Adobe Creative Cloud

Check which plan you have first

What cancelling costs depends on the kind of plan, and Adobe sells three. Sign in at account.adobe.com and look at the plan card to see which one is yours.

• Annual, paid monthly. A one-year commitment charged in monthly instalments. This is the one with the early termination fee.
• Annual, prepaid. A full year paid up front.
• Month-to-month. No commitment beyond the current month.

What cancelling costs

• Within 14 days of your first purchase, most plans can be cancelled for a full refund.
• After 14 days, an annual plan paid monthly carries a fee of 50% of what is left on the contract. Cancel in the ninth month and you pay half of the three remaining months.
• After 14 days, an annual prepaid plan is not refunded for the unused months.
• A month-to-month plan has no fee. It simply stops at the end of the month you paid for.

If you are near the end of an annual term, it is often cheaper to cancel close to the renewal date than in the middle of the year. Just don't let it renew for another twelve months by accident.

Paying Adobe directly

1. Sign in at account.adobe.com.
2. Under Plans and payment, select Manage plan on the plan you want to end.
3. Select Cancel your plan.
4. Check the details, including any fee shown, then select Continue to cancel.
5. Pick a reason and select Continue.
6. Review the summary and select Confirm cancellation.

If Adobe is still processing a payment, or a payment has failed, the cancel option is unavailable. Wait 24 hours and try again. If you hold more than one plan, each has to be cancelled separately.

Bought through Apple, Google or Microsoft

A plan bought inside an app store is cancelled in that store, not at Adobe. On an iPhone that is Settings, your name, Subscriptions. On Android it is the Play Store's Payments & subscriptions. Those plans follow the store's refund rules, not Adobe's fee schedule.

What happens after you cancel

• The paid apps and services keep working until the end of the current billing period.
• Your Adobe account stays open and becomes a free membership.
• Cloud storage drops to the free 5 GB. If you hold more than that, you have 30 days to move files out.
• You can reactivate the plan from your account while the paid period is still running.
• To check it worked, look for Adobe's confirmation email, or open the plan in your account again.

Pay less instead

Manage plan also lets you change plan. If you only use one or two apps, a single-app plan costs far less than the full Creative Cloud bundle.
