How to cancel Apple Music

On iPhone, the web, Windows or Android, and what happens to your library

Check how you get Apple Music first

Apple Music can be its own subscription, part of an Apple One bundle, a Google Play subscription on Android, or an extra included in a mobile plan. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. If you see Apple Music, follow the iPhone steps. If you see Apple One, the bundle is what you pay for. If you see neither, someone else is billing you: a family organiser, Google Play, or your carrier.

On an iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
  2. Tap Apple Music, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

If there is no Cancel Subscription button, or an expiry date is shown in red, the subscription is already cancelled.

On the web

  1. Go to music.apple.com and sign in.
  2. Select the account icon, then Settings.
  3. Scroll to Subscriptions and choose Manage.
  4. Select Cancel Subscription.

This is the route to use when you no longer have an Apple device to hand.

On a Windows PC

  1. Open the Apple Music app and click your name at the bottom of the sidebar.
  2. Choose View My Account and scroll to the Settings section.
  3. Click Manage next to Subscriptions, then Edit beside Apple Music.
  4. Click Cancel Subscription.

On Android

If you pay through Google Play, cancel inside the Apple Music app or in the Play Store under Payments & subscriptions. If you pay Apple directly from an Android phone, the web steps above work.

Apple One, family plans and carriers

  • Inside Apple One, Apple Music cannot be cancelled on its own. Open Apple One in the same Subscriptions list to cancel the bundle or keep only some of its services.
  • On a family subscription, only the person who pays can cancel it.
  • If a mobile carrier includes Apple Music in your plan, the carrier controls it. Change it in your account with them.

What happens after you cancel

  • A paid subscription normally runs to the end of the period you already paid for.
  • On a free or discounted trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid the first charge.
  • Once it expires you can no longer stream from the catalogue, and songs you downloaded from Apple Music stop playing.
  • Playlists you added from the catalogue, or built from catalogue songs, are no longer available. Sync Library turns off.
  • Music you bought, or already had on your device before subscribing, stays.

Free to download. One optional lifetime unlock, never a subscription.

Last checked October 2026. Apple moves its settings between iOS versions; if a step looks different, the Subscriptions list under your name in Settings is always the place to start.
