Guide
How to cancel Audible
Use your credits first
If Audible bills you directly, any unused credits disappear at the end of your final billing period. Books you have already bought with a credit or a card are yours to keep, so spend the credits before you cancel, or at least before that period ends.
Check who bills you
A membership started on the Audible website is billed by Audible. One started inside the iPhone or Android app may be billed by Apple or Google Play instead, and those cannot be cancelled on the Audible site. Deleting the app does not cancel anything in either case.
Paying Audible directly
Audible's cancellation runs through its website, in a browser.
- Sign in at audible.com. On a computer, select your name in the top navigation. On a phone, open the main menu first, then select your name.
- Select Membership details.
- Select Cancel membership.
- Select Confirm cancellation.
If there is no cancel option, you are probably signed in to a different account from the one that holds the membership. Try your other email addresses.
Paying through Apple
- Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
- Tap Audible, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.
Paying through Google Play
- Open the Play Store, tap your profile, then Payments & subscriptions.
- Choose Subscriptions, tap Audible, then Cancel subscription.
What happens after you cancel
- The membership runs to the end of the billing period you already paid for.
- Every title bought with a credit or a card stays in your library for good, and you can download it again whenever you like.
- Titles you only borrowed from the included catalog become locked.
- Unused credits are lost when the final period ends. Credits that came from a membership billed through Apple or Google Play are the exception: those stay on your account.
- You can still buy audiobooks at full price without a membership.
- To check it worked, look for the confirmation email, and open Membership details again to see the new status.
Pause instead
On a monthly plan you can pause for 30, 60 or 90 days, up to 90 days in total every 12 months. Nothing is charged during the pause and you keep your credits. Annual plans cannot be paused. One catch: an introductory discount keeps running while you are paused, so it may have ended by the time billing resumes.
Tired of subscriptions renewing before you remember them?
Recurry keeps every price and renewal date in one place and reminds you the day before anything bills.
Free to download. One optional lifetime unlock, never a subscription.
Last checked October 2026. Audible changes its menus from time to time; if a step looks different, the Membership details page on audible.com is always the place to start.
