How to cancel Disney+

Check who bills you first

Disney+ can be paid to Disney directly, through Apple, Google Play or Amazon, or as part of a TV, phone or internet package. You cancel wherever the money leaves. To find out, sign in at disneyplus.com in a browser, select your profile, then Account, and open your subscription. The payment method shown there names who charges you. Then follow the matching section below.

Paying Disney+ directly

1. Sign in at disneyplus.com in a browser on your computer or phone.
2. Select your profile, then Account.
3. Under Subscription, select your Disney+ subscription.
4. Choose Cancel Subscription. The survey about your reason is optional; finish the last screen to complete the cancellation.

Use the website rather than the app for this. These steps cover monthly plans; annual plans have their own rules, further down.

Paying through Apple

1. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
2. Tap Disney+, then Cancel Subscription.

Disney+ no longer lets new subscribers pay through Apple, so only older accounts are billed this way. If Disney+ isn't in that list, Apple isn't charging you.

Paying through Google Play

1. Open the Play Store, tap your profile, then Payments & subscriptions.
2. Choose Subscriptions, tap Disney+, then Cancel subscription.

As with Apple, this only applies to accounts that signed up through Google Play some time ago.

Paying through Amazon

Sign in to Amazon in a web browser, open Memberships & Subscriptions from your account menu, find Disney+ and cancel it there.

Bundled with a TV, phone or internet plan

If Disney+ came with a mobile contract, a TV package or broadband, that provider owns the billing. Cancel or change it in the provider's account settings or by contacting them. Disney+ support cannot end a subscription that a partner bills.

Annual plans and bundles

• An annual plan runs to the end of the year you paid for, and unused months are generally not refunded.
• In some countries an annual plan can only be cancelled through Disney+ support and needs a month's notice. Don't leave it to the last week before renewal.
• In the US, Disney+ is often bundled with Hulu and ESPN. Cancelling Disney+ does not necessarily end the others: a Hulu or ESPN subscription you had before bundling carries on at its own price unless you cancel it too.

What happens after you cancel

• You keep watching until the end of the period you already paid for, then billing stops.
• Disney+ does not refund or credit a partly used billing period.
• Cancelling does not delete your Disney+ account or your profiles. Deleting the account is a separate step.
• To check it worked, open the Account page again. A cancelled subscription offers Restart Subscription in place of the cancel option, and you can use it to change your mind until the paid period ends.

Pause or pay less instead

If you pay Disney+ monthly, the same subscription page may offer Pause Subscription. You choose how long, the pause starts at your next billing date, and nothing is charged until it ends. The Account page also lets you switch plans; where a plan with ads is available, it costs less than the ad-free one.
