How to cancel Super Duolingo

Check who bills you first

Where you cancel depends on where you subscribed. If you upgraded inside the Duolingo app on an iPhone, Apple bills you; inside the Android app, Google Play does; on the Duolingo website, Duolingo itself does. One thing that never works: deleting the app, or even your Duolingo account, does not cancel the subscription.

From inside the app

1. Open Duolingo and tap the Super icon at the top of the home screen.
2. Tap the Settings gear, then Manage subscription.
3. Select Cancel subscription and confirm in the App Store or Google Play sheet that opens.

Straight from your iPhone's subscriptions

1. Open Settings, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
2. Tap Duolingo, then Cancel Subscription.

This is the same subscription the app route ends up at, so either works. If Duolingo isn't in the list, Apple isn't the one charging you.

Through Google Play

1. Open the Play Store, tap your profile, then Payments & subscriptions.
2. Choose Subscriptions, tap Duolingo, then Cancel subscription.

Subscribed on the website

1. Sign in at duolingo.com in a browser.
2. Click your profile picture at the top and choose Settings.
3. Select Super Duolingo, then Cancel subscription, and confirm.

What happens after you cancel

• Your streak and learning progress are untouched.
• Super features keep working until the end of the period you paid for, then the free version takes over. Changed your mind before then? Open your Profile in the app and tap Keep my Subscription.
• Duolingo does not refund past payments or part of a period. The exception is Apple: for a subscription bought on an iPhone, a refund is requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, and Apple decides. For web and Android subscriptions you can email Duolingo support with a "Purchase Issue" request, and they review it case by case.
• To check it worked, look at your phone's subscription list: a cancelled Duolingo subscription shows an expiry date instead of a next billing date.

Family Plan

If you share a Family Plan, only the family manager can cancel it, and cancelling ends Super for everyone on the plan at the end of the period. Leaving a plan as a member, like joining one, does not touch your streak or progress.
